What is Ex Works (EXW) in freight forwarding?

An Incoterm applicable to all transportation modes. Under Ex Works, the seller is only responsible for making the goods available at their premises. The buyer is responsible for all activities involved with the removal of the goods from the seller’s premises, including transportation, risk and customs clearance.
